Another 6 lives lost.

Japan needs prayer.  The suicide rate is incredibly high (a little over 30,000 per year) and while some argue that it's from the high unemployment rate, the numbers don't really add up if you compare them to the unemployment and suicide rates of other countries.  Most of the suicides are committed by people between the ages of 40 and 60, but we're seeing a growing number of younger people killing themselves over work, family, and school (bullying) related issues.  These people need hope - hope that only God can give.  Can I challenge you to lift a quick prayer for Japan?

Suspicions confirmed on suicide site's involvement in group's deaths

ENIWA, Hokkaido -- Suspicions that a suicide site was involved in the deaths of four people whose bodies were found in a car here have been confirmed, police said Tuesday.

At least two of the four people found dead -- an Osaka man and a woman from Saitama Prefecture -- came in contact through an online suicide site, while it seems highly likely the other two victims, two women from Hokkaido, used a similar means to get in touch.

Police said the four victims were a 19-year-old female part-time worker from Chitose, Hokkaido, a 20-year-old woman part-time worker from Eniwa, the 35-year-old male company employee from Osaka and a 23-year-old temporary employment agency worker from Honjo, Saitama Prefecture. Relatives of all but the Eniwa woman had filed missing person's reports in at least early October.

2 women gas themselves in car in apparent suicide pact

KUMAGAYA, Saitama -- Two women have gassed themselves in a car in an apparent suicide pact, police said.

The two have been identified as 21- and 22-year-old women from Namegawa, Saitama Prefecture, who were elementary school classmates.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, an angler found two women collapsed in a car parked near the bank of the Arakawa River in the Kawara-Aketo district of Kumagaya, and alerted police. Officers pronounced them dead at the scene.

Katsuya and Miki started a church planting in September of 1999 in Japan, after graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary in USA. The name of our church is J-House (Jesus House).

The target group of J-House is Generation X –especially university students.  They have a lot of free time and they are looking for the meaning of life.  Also many of them are interested in English and international cultures.  These can be an effective tool to reach Japanese university students for Christ.

We have witnessed a lot of amazing things that God has done during these 7 years – more than 100 people have been baptized, weekly meetings of more than 200 people attendance.  These are really great blessings as a Japanese church.  We want to give all the praise to the Lord.  But, we are sensing more and more blessings, hundreds of people saved, and more committed disciples in the coming years!

We are looking for 12 people who can commit for 1 year or (possible 2 years) starting 9/11/2007. Japan is not a good place to do ministry with few missionaries. But, if we can make a strong team, we can encourage and help each other. This way we can build a more effective ministry. Step out in faith and contact us! We will send or e-mail more information. office@jhouse.tv
